Spatial example becomes mono at low volume

I tried out the spatial example and noticed that, as the volume decreases, the sound pans back to the center again and becomes mono. This doesn't seem correct, I imagine that as the emitter moves further to the left or right, the sound should be heard mostly in that ear, rather than appearing to come from the front as distance increases.
