That is correct. It works together with the [ and ] keys. I guess that could be made more clear.

It's a tradeoff between keeping the tiles hidden, and making them look good. If you don't mind cheating, you can turn on showing invisible tiles, which will remove the blue.

While it is true that DFHack allows outside connections now, the RFR plugin requires quite a bit of work before it is suitable for using with more than one person...

Right now, it keeps track of what the client already knows. It would have to keep that data separate per client, or be re-written to be more intelligent about it.
