thanks for the rebase/fix, im still far from taking a look myself, i hope to make the escaping helpers cimport-able sooner or later to sidestep python there as well but...
with the current backend structure multi connection upload are not sensibly possible as the log structured store is not concurrent and the encryption scheme is also not yet prepared for...
well - a completely ascii-save way could be to do unicode-escape then all unicode is escaped as `\u...`
an early warning if the chunk getting failed would be fabulous
