[Bug]: Some installers close explorer.exe but don't execute it again after completing

Open panreyes opened this issue 4 months ago • 3 comments

The problem

Some installers (like TortoiseGit) close explorer.exe but don't execute it again after completing.

It might be a good idea if WAU checked if explorer.exe is closed for any user and execute it again after installing any program. I looked into the source code to send a patch but I couldn't find out how to run it when WAU is being run under the SYSTEM user.

What version of WAU has the issue?

2.5.2.1858

What version of Windows are you using (ex. Windows 11 22H2)?

Windows 11 24H2

What version of winget are you using?

1.11.430

That would solve it for me but not for everyone. I do consider a bug leaving the user without the GUI. Although it's not a WAU bug, it could be addressed by it.

The bug doesn’t come from WAU for me; it is related to the app itself. We cannot fix every bug encountered in all apps — that’s not the goal of WAU. As @KnifMelti suggested, MOD is there for this kind of customization. Feel free to share your solution in the MOD section.
