Moving to python3?

Python2 is EOL at the end of January. As such, Kali is moving away from it as well, and everything needs to move to python3. The installer attempts to run pip, and not pip3, which fails if python2 isn't installed.

Are there plans to move to python3 in the rework?

I think you're posting in the wrong repository as P4wnP1 has been moved. As it states in the readme:

This repo isn't really suspended, but I'm using all of my time to work on P4wnP1's successor. The new Repo is still private, but information on progress are published via twitter, from time to time (@P4wnP1 or @MaMe82).`

The new repo seems to be accessible, but hasnt been updated in over 10 months. I'm not sure any work is still being done, but i only dropped by here and saw your post so take my words with a grain of salt and possibly check twitter.
