Speed optimisation:

maybe you could add to the script to uninstall and disable modules in the kernel for better startup performance. building a new iniramfs with everything needed inside is also much faster than using DKMS. just disable everything that is not needed by the framework.

Another thing is to port everything to alpine linux. there is an official port of alpine for the raspberry pi and the kernel just loads MUCH faster than the raspian kernel. i Know this is A LOT OF WORK but it would speed up the boot & ready process signifficantly and the device would be ready in a matter of secons. If you could port this we should have a startup time around 5 seconds or even less and not like around 35 - 50 secons on raspian.

Unfortunately this project is deprecated/abandoned so there won't be any development anytime soon. However, P4wnP1 A.L.O.A features USB-Hotplugging capabilities. This would enable you to skip the the bootsequence altogether. You can let the Pi boot via the power-only usb port and once it booted up, you can plug it into your target and it will get detected almost instantly and P4wnP1 will go to work.
