Search function does not include uploaded file.
I tried the demo.rocket.chat and tried to search a filename (ex. picture13833132095711.jpg) that is uploaded. The result did not return any or did not return the file uploaded.
+1 on this issue, big problem not being able to search for a file, even in the attachments sidebar menu
any updates on this? :)
Confirmed: still an issue in 2.10.5
Is this related? https://github.com/RocketChat/Rocket.Chat/pull/11486
I haven't seen that feature yet, but I assume it lets you search from the Files List, but not in the normal messages search. If that's how it works, I feel it would be better if it was (also?) available there. I often include a message with an image I post to a channel.
@pshute wow this is great!
@ccfiel should this be closed? Given that images, etc, appear in channels like messages, users will tend to assume they can be searched like messages.
I think you have a point @pshute for now I reopen it again :)
+1
IMHO related to this issue: The search function also doesn't search through the content of the attachment (If it's text). All our integrations use the text field inside the attachment instead of the normal text field so we are able to set a message color. This results in the fact that we are not able to use the search function to search for things posted by an integration.
We plan on searching for file names and description, but not inside files.
This would be a greatly appreciated feature.
We just ran into this. Quite surprising really, that such an great and advanced tool like Rocket Chat does not have a functional file search, though the files in a given channel are all listed in the files sidebar. Just a basic filename filter here would be helpful, as people probably know what they are looking for.

Hello. How about implementing search by file description. Users often write large messages, attach files to them. Words in such messages also need to be searched, although they are formally a description of the file.
