Installing .deb Package on Ubuntu shows "Proprietary" license

My Setup

  • Operating System: GNU/Linux, Ubuntu 17.10
  • App Version: 2.10.5 AMD64 (latest from Website)

Verification

  • [x] I have tested with the latest version
  • [x] I can reproduce the issue easily

Description

  1. Download the .deb package from the Rocket.Chat website
  2. Locate the downloaded file using Ubuntu's file manager, and double-click on it to open the package using the package installer
  3. Look at the license info before or after installing: It says "Proprietary" highlighted in red

Current Behavior

License info says "Proprietary" highlighted in red

Expected Behavior

License info should say "MIT" appropriately (or similar)

Please test if the latest release did solve this. If not please reopen the issue or create a new one and tell us. I will be closing this one for now.

Interesting! I found out the Rocket.Chat package from FlatHub seems packaged properly:

You find this in "Ubuntu Software" when – you have FlatHub and FlatHub integration installed, and – you search for "rocket".

Also the Snap has a free license (that can be recognized) configured in the package information:

Maybe you can align with the maintainers of those packages?

I will take a look in the .deb packaging. Maybe there is a problem on the builder.
