Infinite loading loop on Ubuntu Desktop Client

Open LvckyAPI opened this issue 1 year ago • 16 comments

Description:

Every time when I update the Rocket.Chat e.g.: from 6.11.1 to 6.12.1, many employees were sent in to an infinite loading loop. You can't fix with, restart, force reload (with forget and without).

To fix it, we have to delete the desktop-client via snap, and install it again.

sudo snap remove rocketchat-desktop && sudo snap install rocketchat-desktop

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open Rocket.Chat Desktop Client
  2. Update Server
  3. Look at Desktop Client

Expected behavior:

Seeing Chats, Groups etc

Actual behavior:

Infinite loading loop

Server Setup Information:

  • Version of Rocket.Chat Server: 6.12.1
  • Operating System: Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS
  • Deployment Method: Server Docker, desktop client Snap
  • Number of Running Instances: 1
  • MongoDB Version: 6.0

Client Setup Information

  • Desktop App or Browser Version: 4.1.0
  • Operating System: Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS

Please always ask in the forums or open.rocket.chat as most issues are support and not bugs.

So this is a client issue, not a server issue?

In which case it really belongs here:

https://github.com/RocketChat/Rocket.Chat.Electron

To try and nail your issue I'd also try the deb instead of the snap as a test and make sure you dump the cache which often causes this.

I already said, a cache clear does not work.

Force reload should fix the issue, as the application is stuck on the loading because of the cache. When it happen again can you please send here the errors from console?

jeanfbrito avatar Sep 25 '24 12:09 jeanfbrito

the same issue.

the same issue.

This is a pointless response. It tells the developers nothing.

See this for some clue on properly reporting issues:

Please provide some server details and client details.

Have you tried to clear the client cache and force a reload as above??

If you have and the issue persists where are your logs?

How do I perform force reload for snap version?

Please stop jumping about everywhere and stick to the right repo for your issue. You will end up being ignored.

How do I perform force reload for snap version?

Is this related to a snap client or a snap server?

This issue is for the client:

Infinite loading loop on Ubuntu Desktop Client

Have you tested on both a client and browser? Is the problem the same on all clients?

If it is then it is likely a server issue which you have already opened at 33425 as you mentioned above.

If it ONLY occurs on a snap installed client then this may be correct issue - this was for Ubuntu - in which case you need to give some proper client details - OS, version, Rocket client version etc.

Where is the rest of the application? There is a window around the server view.

I'd have a look at his bug #33425
