Opening a downloaded file could be more convenient
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. When the users has downloaded an attachment via the cloud icon, they receive a notification, clicking on which leads to a list of downloaded files. After that, they need to find this file in the downloaded file list and click “show in folder”. And it's too confusing.
Describe the solution you'd like Clicking on a notification about a downloaded file, immediately opens the folder with it
@jeanfbrito Please let me know your views on this one. I would really love to made the required ammendments to the behaviour.
Waiting for your reply Prisha Gupta
The first file in the list is the latest downloaded, the user don't need to find as is on the top of the list. But, we can change this of course, maybe do the two things, open the folder and change the desktop app to the downloads view as its done today. But always the last download is on the top. We could add some highlight to it too and/or show the timestamp of the download. You can improve this view if you want @preeesha and have any ideas.
Thanks for the reply @jeanfbrito.
The idea of opening the download page with a highlighted file with a timestamp sounds pretty cool to me.
I would like to suggest adding an option in the settings to let the user customise this behaviour. We should give user the choice to choose between whether he wants to see the download page or open the folder directly.
What are your views? Is it better this way or am I lacking somewhere?
Also do let me know if I should start working on it?
I think that we can just open the folder and highlight on desktop app without a setting. If someone complain about this new behaviour we add the setting, but I really think that it can be the default behaviour.
Okay @jeanfbrito. I'll making changes to make the notification open the folder and highlight the file in the download page as well. I'll first be adding a timestamp in the downloaded files in a separate PR to avoid the mess.
I'll update you shortly.
could you create the links for the downloaded files (show in folder), like it is realized in this messenger? it's very convenient.
and if you can indicate the download status of the file (downloaded or not), it would be perfect.
