Typing status sometimes appears with an unexpected username

Describe the bug

In a direct message window between 2 users, "User is typing..." sometimes shows an unexpected username.

Unfortunately this problem is intermittent and difficult to reproduce. The unexpected username has always been the last person I had a DM or conversation open with, but I am not sure if that is a rule. I have not been able to confirm whether the expected or unexpected user is actually typing at the time.

To Reproduce

  1. Open DM with User A and exchange messages
  2. Open DM with User B and exchange messages
  3. "User A is typing..." status message appears in DM with User B

Expected behavior

  1. Open DM with User A and exchange messages
  2. Open DM with User B and exchange messages
  3. "User B is typing..." status message appears in DM with User B
