No file shown on Linux to macOS

Open cake03 opened this issue 4 years ago • 5 comments

while sending files/messages from a Linux browser to a macOS browser, the file seems to not be sent or recieved. However the visible browser is displayed.

Here is a list of browsers used (all failed)

Linux macOS
Epiphany Firefox
Firefox Safari

Hi :relaxed:, I had a very similiar problem with my Manjaro Linux desktop running Firefox and my iPhone running Safari (the files seemed to be sent in the browser, but never showed up in the other device's browser). The issues got solved once I tried Chrome on the PC. According to Wikipedia the engine that Epiphany uses is "based on the GTK port of Apple's WebKit rendering engine, called WebKitGT:, so it's not based on Chromium, which might be the reason why you experienced this issue too. It could be the case that snapdrop depends on some kind of Chromium-only feature on the desktop, but don't quote me on that....

Here are some details for anyone who's interested in debugging this problem:

id OS
Device 1 Manjaro Linux x86_6
Device 2 iOS 14.7.1 (browser: Safari)

The issues appeared with Device 1:

did it work? browser version
:x: Firefox 91.0.2
:heavy_check_mark: Chrome 93.0.4577.63 (Official Build) (64-bit)

P.s: Just in case a maintainer reads this: this is such an awesome app! I loved the design and UX experience, thank you for your work! :relaxed:

Woah, it started to work for me (Firefox 96.0.3 on macOS and Manjaro Linux). Maybe it got fixed with a Firefox update? @Cake967 does it work for you now?
