Doesn't install as a proper PWA on iOS

Open ahydronous opened this issue 3 years ago • 9 comments

On iOS if I add a PWA to the home screen (via Safari > 'share' > 'add to homescreen'), it becomes it's own pseudo-app in things like the app switcher.

Snapdrop however just become a bookmark that opens a tab in Safari.

The bookmarklet I made is at #238 .

See #115 - PWA breaks downloads on iOS devices, for this must work in Safari...

@Longshoez, unfortunately, there isn't a way to install as a proper PWA on iOS, yet. Sorry...

This is just not true, at least not anymore. Try the google news site on the latest version of iOS.

@Bellisario What I think is missing is the display key on the web manifest needs to be standalone.

@1ctinus the problem is that adding Snapdrop on an iOS 12 device will fail images download (#115), so @RobinLinus decided not to add it to keep use on these devices. Pull request #282 adds support for iOS 13 and higher, but hasn’t been merged yet.
