GPL with changed clauses?

The repo readme contains this paragraph

We use the GPL License with a few changed clauses to protect our apps' integrity. Click the GPL License button to see the full license without the changed clauses.

What does this actually mean? It makes it sound like you modified the GPL (in what way though?) but didn't update the LICENSE file in the repo accordingly.

Could you clarify what's going on here?
