That's a restriction, which applies to many places in Prism (comments, shotnames, tasknames...) The reason for that is that the comment is included in the Houdini scenefilename and spaces in filenames can cause problems in different situations. However, I already have a workaround in mind, which would make it possible to use spoaces in comments.

Oh god no, comments shouldn't be part of the name, they just should in Prisms as reference, I guess if someone would like to see the comments of the loaded file that could be added to the Prism menu, load file comments that could give more opportunity to have notes for someone else or maybe even mention a user in a comment that would notify the user.

The comments are meant to be a short note to differentiate the different versions of an asset and not a full description for handoff a scene to another artist. I've planned a feature which allows to add longer descriptions to scenefiles. These descriptions and comments should be accessable from outside of Houdini, so I won't store them inside the scenefile, but in an external file/database. Currently you are restricted to short comments, but I see the need for more detailed descriptions for scenefiles.

I still don't like the idea of comments in the file name, can that be optional please?

more detailed comments will be useful and yes I agree, save that on the Prism side and have a way to read them from the integration on the apps

As soon as the "description" feature is added, the comment will move from the filename to the description file so that the comment can be removed optionally from the filename. But currently there is no option to remove the comments from the filename. I mean you could change the scripts and customize the generated filenames, but then the Project Browser wouldn't show comments anymore.

hi, any news on this ? as @varomix i really think that comment in filename is not a good thing in the mean time, maybe that comment can be stored in a sidecar file ? bests
