Emulationstation does not support Bluetooth Steelseries controllers
I am shocked nobody has ever come here to post this as an issue. Just about every other site reports this problem (Reddit, Raspberry Pi's forum, and RetroPie's forum) but not here.
So let's get down to the brass tax of the issue. Emulationstation does not recognize the SteelSeries Stratus XL game controller. While I hope I don't need to go to the RetroPie repo to report another issue involving the buttons sometime taking off on there own scrolling through things on RetroPie, the main matter of this issue is that even with Bluetooth enabled and RetroPie set up to pair the controller at startup, the latest barrier to vex me in this project is Emulationstation not supporting this controller.
Now, I'm sure some people will report "just get a PS3 controller", but part of the reason I moved on from that (other than the P.I.T.A. experience with the limit capacity of the rechargeable battery on the PS3 controller, which needs an adapter to plug a USB mini plug in a USB micro cable) is the fact that I'm comfortable with the SteelSeries Stratus XL, it works well on Android games, and if Windows 10's bluetooth driver didn't crash my computer if I left it on, I would use it there too if I wanted too.
I'm sure there is probably some kind of driver tweak that could get it working. Let me know if there is any other information you need to get this working.
Why, hello there.
Can you share more info as to what leads you to state that "EmulationStation doesn't recognize it"? Meaning, is it an EmulationStation issue or a wider OS issue? Can you get the controller to work on any of the emulators or Kodi, for instance?
Different answers may suggest different approaches or requests for info.
