RAGenS hangs after starting "Redefine Keys"

RAgens will hang (not responding) for a varied duration shortly after starting Redefine Keys (for Options -> Joypad Settings). The hang duration is typically between 15 seconds and 3 minutes or more, and will make the emulator appear as if it will crash, with a popup asking if you'd like to force a close, if you don't wait.

• The hanging will only start after you've begun to redefine keys, and will not start immediately.
• If you are quick in inputting sometimes it won't hang at all.
• It will sometimes hang at CONFIGURATION SUCCESSFUL - PRESS A KEY TO CONTINUE
• It will always hang if after you start Redefine Keys and then you click on the controller settings window or the main window.

Other's besides me (ikki5) are similar related issues such as: (I've never had this issue)

It's worth noting that in the latest version of the emulator input uses a completely new UI.
