Where is the KiCAD Project file? No library cache

The pcb folder does not contain a KiCAD project file.

Moreover, there is no library cache file:

and thus, all symbols are corrupted:

I wonder what is the reasoning behind not including a self-contained parts and footprints library and no project file

Am I missing something?
