Splashscreen issues

The new logo is nice, but to be honest, I think we made one step forward and two steps backwards.

The original splash screen was:

  • nicely fading
  • crisp and sharp text
  • allowed for easy incrementing of the version number as it was just "text" that could easily be changed in the scripts

The new splash screen:

  • doesn't fade
  • is not looking sharp and crisp
  • doesn't allow for easy incrementing of the version as it's included in the jpg

My proposal would be to convert the logo (only the round logo part on the left, not the "EZ-Wifibroadcast" text string) to a truetype font so we can display it as "text" like it was before.

When we spend time on the splash i'd actually like to make it functional. Right now it just shows the logo for a certain amount of time and then closes. I would like to have it act as an actual boot screen, showing the status of the system and, when initialized then it should close. We could just keep the logo as an image and then make the rest normal text again, that would make it easier to show version information and such. But like i said, i would like to make it more functional as well when we spend time on it.

Is the logo without the "EZ-Wifibroadcast" text available somewhere as svg? Or does anybody know an svg editor with which I can cut the logo out?

The source svgs were uploaded to the bortek repository a little while ago.

The latest svg splashscreen file is here.

ps : the github preview doesn't show the N° version, but if you download the svg file and open it with Inkscape, you will see it.
