What screws are used for combining the beams?

Hi. If you look at the start of the Python code you'll see you can set this. Currently the holes are set to 3.3mm, which is right for M3 screws.

What is the orientation to print on a standard fdm printer?

It may be difficult to print on a standard FFF printer without support because it was designed to take advantage of the way that belt printers can print horizontal overhangs....

V2 code vs. block diagram: seems like the code is written for a simpler mechanical config

I think you have an old version of the code. The current code (which compiles but is untested) references all four valves per side.
