Newest versions lost sensors, including all CPU related

Open Nogitsunegari opened this issue 3 weeks ago • 3 comments

Recent updates have lost many of my sensors, including all pertaining to my CPU. The only sensors showing now, and after many reinstall attempts, are those pertaining to GPU and motherboard and SSD. FanControl install location has forever been excluded from Windows Defender, as is the location for PawnIO and Libre Hardware Monitor (which does see all of the sensors). As per your recommendations on GitHub, I tried to uninstall the current version (success) and install the 371 version for WinRing0 to see if that is the difference maker. Now with 371, when I open the window for FanControl by double-clicking on the temp in my System Tray, it begs me to update (to which I click Disable this popup and then Cancel), but then an infinite loop of pop-up windows, sequentially, not simultaneously, says "An unexpected error has occurred and has been added to the log file." and after clicking OK it pops up again and never lets me use the app or even close it. I have to nuke it in Task Manager.

By disconnecting from any networks and then opening FanControl, I was able to use the app, and even disable "Notify for update at startup". But whenever I change something fancy, it gives me the infinite log file error again.

The error you are getting is from an incompatibility bug between .NET10 and a version MaterialDesigninXaml which is used in older versions of FanControl. It has been fixed since.

One thing you can do is edit FanControl.runtimeconfig.json and set

"rollForward": "LatestMinor",

As for the latest version, what's your specs? Did PawnIO install successfully? Do you have FaceIT installed?

I have similar problems with Versions above 245. PawnIO is installed and i also changed "rollForward" to "LatestMinor".

Only FanControl_245_net_8_0 seems to work for me, but there some sensors/controls stop working after some time so i need to hit ctrl+r often.
