Any solution yet other than uninstalling faceit?

Short answer: No

Hi, it mentions on https://support.faceit.com/hc/en-us/articles/360014237259--Forbidden-driver-error-message-and-blocked-drivers

PawnIO.sys Please revert to an older version of Fan Control which does not use PawnIO. Unfortunately it currently uses a signing certificate that is also used by cheat software, so it will need a new certificate to work with FACEIT AC.

Could someone inform me what the latest version of FanControl is that DOESN'T use PawnIO? Thank you.

Strange, because I had "FanControl_236_net_4_8_Installer" installed, v236, and I was having the same issue with FACEIT AC, however the program was working fine and I was not getting any "missing sensor" issues.

ILudw1g avatar Oct 29 '25 15:10 ILudw1g

I have just tried "FanControl_235_net_4_8_Installer", sensors are detected fine and FACEIT AC is still giving the same issue. So that's v235 and v236, both under v237, giving the same issue and acting the exact same.

Could somebody please tell which version does NOT use PawnIO so I can try it and see if my FACEIT AC works? Clearly "V237 and below" is not the case.

I've been using v235 since the I posted this and it has been working fine, you should uninstall the old versions completely

Hidrav3 avatar Oct 29 '25 15:10 Hidrav3

By the way, just installed "FanControl_220_net_4_8_Installer", and still same result. Sensors picking up fine, and FACEIT AC giving same error. Some assistance would be greatly appreciated as this is quite troublesome and not very straight forward issue.

I do not wish to uninstall FanControl whatsoever, but i need AC to work.....

ILudw1g avatar Oct 29 '25 15:10 ILudw1g

@Hidrav3 Okay thanks, will uninstall completely and try v236.

ILudw1g avatar Oct 29 '25 15:10 ILudw1g

I have tried v236, no go. Let me try v235.

@ILudw1g uninstalling FanControl doesn't uninstall PawnIO. PawnIO is a seperate thing to be uninstalled from your Programs list.

Rem0o avatar Oct 29 '25 15:10 Rem0o

@ILudw1g uninstalling FanControl doesn't uninstall PawnIO. PawnIO is a seperate thing to be uninstalled from your Programs list.

Thank you for this clarification. I have uninstalled PawnIO, installed v236, it's running, working correctly and FACEIT AC is able to activate.

Thank you for your help.

I do have a question though, is there a massive issue staying on v236? As I don't think I'll ever be able to update FanControl again given the AC issue, unless PAWNIO is officially signed, which will never happen because it costs too much - or something like that, apologies if I'm mistaken.

ILudw1g avatar Oct 29 '25 15:10 ILudw1g

@ILudw1g Yes, anti-virus software may give you a hard time and technically you are using a driver with known privilege escalation vulnerabilities.

That said PawnIO will become signed. It's just a matter of patience. The signing certificate needed requires Namazso to establish a business, which costs money and time. They have stated that the money isn't the issue, it's the time. The process isn't fast due to paperwork and bureaucracy.

@RyuConnor Thanks for your response. Where could I keep up to date with the PawnIO driver being signed?

Likewise just to be sure here, once it is signed, FACEIT AC should be alright with it, and I can update to the latest versions of FanControl?

Edit: Also, I have not had any issues with Anti-Malware on the v236 that I'm using.

@ILudw1g

https://github.com/namazso/PawnIO.Setup/issues/1 - I presume this thread will be updated and closed once the certificate is obtained.

Alternatively I'd guess the Reddit for Fan Control will also make noise about PawnIO being updated with the EV signing. -https://www.reddit.com/r/FanControl/

Yes, once PawnIO is signed with an EV certificate, the FACEIT trojan should stop complaining, allowing you to upgrade to the latest version of Fan Control.

I'm using v236 and Faceit AC works. Make sure to uninstall PawnIO from the installed apps (WIN+R -> appwiz.cpl).
