CPU FAN/Pump Sensors no longer working

Open PsymonSnow opened this issue 3 months ago • 7 comments

I was using version 240 and WITHOUT updating, The app stopped working correctly. I can see my CPU temps, but there is no fan assigned to it (i have a dual fan tower cooler using CPU_FAN and CPU_PMP (although i have tried using a splitter on CPU_FAN only, made no difference). I had already installed PawnIO and for 3-4 days nothing changed, FanControl worked great, then one night I shut down, went to bed, and when i booted up, 6 case fans and my GPU fans were present in the gui, but CPU1 & 2 were missing.

Nuking and reinstalling changes nothing, nor does using .net 8 or .net framework 4.8 versions, on both 240 and 242. I have also gone into BIOS to see if native "Speed Fan" was back in control, no, still set to software controlled.

Obviously, when using a 14 year old PC, I really need to know what is going on. Which I do still know, but I cant change anything if my CPU temps spiked, and obv, nothing is automated anymore.

I can confirm I'm experiencing the same issue after updating to V243. My CPU cooler fan is no longer detected, only the GPU fans are. Everything was working correctly on the previous version.

Here is my system configuration:

System Specifications:

  • OS: Windows 11 Pro 23H2
  • Motherboard: MSI B760M GAMING PLUS WIFI DDR4 (MS-7D99)
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-12600KF
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090

@PsymonSnow

I realized with the new driver detecting sensors is a more unstable with ISA mutex timeouts. Added some robustness in that vein in V243 to try and tackle this. This may be why you are getting no sensors at all "sometimes".

Strangely, after trying many different methods, and updating to 243, running both CPU fans off of the PUMP header seems to be working (at the expense of losing 1 case fan.) Which is odd as CPU_PMP header wasn't working yesterday either. All temp sensors work, but the CPU_FAN header is still non-operational. This maybe evidence of my mobo failing as I can't seem to see the RPM of the fan (that is still plugged into CPU_FAN and spinning SLOWLY) in any software including bios.

This could also be a windows update issue, as I am pretty sure the weird behaviour started after windoze updated.

I thank you for your swift response and this great software that has no equal.

Please note, this software works great on my AM4 & 5 machines, Maybe my 4th gen i7 is ready for retirement ;(

Same issue here, no CPU fans connected to motherboard are being detected in V243. Started to happen right after I updated the FanControl. Rolling the app back to V242 did not fix the issue, sadly.

I have the same issue. Only my GPU fan is visible on V243. I only noticed after updating my nvidia GPU drivers, so perhaps that has something to do with it. All my fans are plugged into their own individual headers on the mobo.

Same issue. All control and speed sensors are now MISSING.

Hello,

I also have this issue with CPU fan no longer being detected, after clean reinstalls etc. Unfortunately I don't know since which version, I remember I updated to the latest when the old driver was detected as malware.

I have B550F motherboard.
