Windows 11 24h2 freezing after installing V240
The Windows 11 24H2 completely freezes when I try to open FanControl V240. I've tried to install the PawnIO manually, with no results. It still locks up the whole system.
Same here with Windows 10 PRO 22H2. The whole system freezes after the first restart after the update. After rebooting and checking at what point it crashed, I found out it was on FC start up. Booted on Safe mode, removed both FC and PIO and the system works just fine.
I have an old version stored in my disk, so Ill go with that one until you get it sorted.
Same here, PawnIO didn't install properly (FaceIt !!), and system freezes, Win10 Pro 22H2, Back to V236, works like a charm
Same here with Win10 Home 22H2. Sometimes it start without problem but most time it crash Windows on Launch. No anti Cheat software installed

When FC v240 start it crash the system that it freeze (nothing work anymore) and only reset help. Sometimes on my it worked without a problem.
And to what the others wrote it freeze there system too.

The whole computer hangs. In my case, it didnt crash until after the computer suspended. It installed the update and worked just fine. I left the pc, it suspended and when I woke it up it crashed, after that, it crashed everytime at start up. Complete hang of the whole system. PawnIO installed correctly in my case.
from me no log because i delete the folder complete at search after the error. On windows? there must i look after if there was one
Any logs, eventviewer, anything?
I checked the windows event viewer for clues and found an abnormal amount of DCOM 1084 on several services I never heard of before.

i saw a hwinfo error to but these 2 are the one that are around the freeze time that are to fan control. Nothing in the Virus malware window of windows. Sry its in German
ok old was under windows 10 22H2. After full new installation its Windows 11 25H2 same problem with version 242. Im back to 236
Could that be a Problem of cpu und board? Its a amd fx8350. Next try is in 1-2 month when i upgrade the system
If I remember correctly @namazso said somewhere that the 0F AMD module wasn't tested at all on real hardware, seems we got the consequences here.
I didnt mention my hardware but im running an ancient FX6300. I still have the older version working.

Yeah, 0F was tested on my Athlon 64 x2, but Family 10 wasn’t. I have an Athlon II as well, but it’ll need some effort to be in a state I can do testing on.
Once I finish testing Ryzens, I can assemble an AM3 board to see if I can help with that, but time is limited atm. The module doesn't do much, so there are only 2 points of failure - either reading the msr for FID_VID_STATUS (as that is the only one allowed) or the thermtrip register and I suspect something is wrong with the latter.
PS: by the way, one of my testers encountered a strange issue (with the driver, I suppose) on Win11, while it was working fine on W10, however I'm only testing in dev mode for now as the official ryzen and 17h modules are quite limited. I can't really tell what the issue with W11 is though :/
Like i said in a other post on my pc it is a 50/50 game. sometimes it start without a Problem but most it freeze

when you mean me then look above. i was the first that said the CPU i used and we got to the problem.
but the strang eis that sometimes it works without freezing.
Hey, if anyone is interested in getting this resolved, I posted a quick test binary in https://github.com/namazso/PawnIO.Modules/pull/35 . If some of you don't mind it potentially bluescreening it'd be nice if you could test. If it even produces correct output that'd be even better.
