Hello,

My configuration cannot be loaded and i have this error message (truncated as the details is not displayed) :

Here are some issues / observations I've encountered since version 220, that looks similar or related :

  • Configuration seems to not be loaded properly aswell, although no error message or log file. But, I can see that there's an issue since my system tray icons (displaying temperatures) are not showing up and it's the default fanControl icon instead
  • fan speed doesn't increase / decrease with work (like it should), so that tells me fanControl is probably not even initialized properly either
  • fanControl simply doesn't want to open at all, if I try to double-click on the icon. I need to task kill it and restart it manually
  • upon restarting, everything works fine, so probably related to the initial startup with the OS (I've the default 30 sec delay set)

Exactly the same issue happened to me after what seems to be a recent Windows 11 update.

X670E Asus ROG Hero, EVGA 3090 FTW3 and Corsair H150i.

Had been working fine for the past year or so before.

I'm also experiencing this issue with both V220 and V221 when swapping GPUs.

Basically when I change to a different graphics card, which I do every now and then, FanControl of course still tries to use the old GPU set in the config and I then get the "These errors occured while restoring the configuration:" error message when I boot into Windows.

The problem with it is that the pop up comes almost instantly back and I therefore can't do anything in the main window of FanControl. So you get stuck with the blank error pop up message. The workaround that has worked for me so far at least is loading another Configuration via the task bar icon.

@jaxteri can't you simply press cancel?

Yes I can press Cancel but the error pop up is bugged so that it comes back pretty much instantly, there is no time/chance to do anything else in the main window of the program. Basically all I can do is keep clicking Cancel due to an endless loop, nothing else works in the program.

The list of errors in the pop up is also bugged so that it is completely empty. All I get is the "These errors occured while restoring the configuration:" error message. No actual bullets or errors are shown, just like in the screenshot in the original message of this issue.
