GPU not detected when setting up Fan Control (AMD RX 7900 XT)
Hello everyone, I just finished building my first PC and I'm encountering a peculiar issue with Fan Control V214 (NET 4.8): my GPU (AMD RX 7900 XT) isn't detected.
I've tried many things from recommendations found on the net:
- Uninstalling Adrenalin.
- Uninstalling Fan Control and installing it via github with the plugin required.
- Set my fans to manual mode in the motherboard BIOS (though couldn't find the GPU ones).
- Ran many times through the sources in Fan Control.
- Updated all the drivers possible (and Windows updates).
Your help would be greatly appreciated since I'm a noob when it comes to PC building. I'd rather it be a simple solution because I missed it than a complex one because of some stupid mistake I made.
PS: also, when setting up Fan Control, it wouldn't automatically detect the fans, I had to manually pair them.

Screenshots of the issue:
That's all it's showing.
The sources selected (I've tried deselecting a few to see if it would work, but no, it didn't).
Fan 1 is CPU cooler, fan 2 is side exhaust, fan 3 is bottom intake.
Same issue on a 7900XT as well. I can see the sensors but the control does not show up. It used to work in previous versions but not sure when it stopped.
AMD probably changed their API again. My 6800XT also disappeared from both FanControl and Argus Monitor. I guess this needs an update to ADLXWrapper.
AMD drivers are a hot mess in general. Every few updates it breaks compatibility. Please always report the driver version AND if you just recently updated it.
For a lot of folks, a "clean install" of the driver does the trick.

I have 6800XT. I've reinstalled newest stable (24.12.1) and newest optional (25.2.1) and both remove card's sensors from fan control, I ended up with uninstalled official driver and using that one basic that windows brings by it's own (driver date 24.12.2024, driver version 32.0.13018.6 from device manager), works only with it.
I have also have the newest driver (24.12.1), but i's kind of a bummer that it working well with Fan Control is up to a coin toss...
Seems like once the 32.0.13018.6 driver update that gets installed from Windows update, it causes issues, even after reverting back to the AMD Adrenalin version. Had to reformat my computer (with no internet so updates don't get installed) and then use a outdated Microsoft tool "wushowhide" to prevent Windows update from installing the driver.
Weird tho that before reformatting my computer, FanControl couldn't see the sensors, but HWInfo could (could use the HWInfo plugin as an alternative)
I ended up trying out what @memeslam228 suggested and it worked. Uninstalled Adrenaline (programs and features; don't touch the AMD Chipset Software), restarted and then through device manager I updated my 7800xt and Radeon generic drivers from 32.0.120xx.x (don't remember the exact numbers) to the latest 32.0.13018.6. Restarted once more and the GPU sensors were detected again.
Maybe this will be useful for someone else having a similar issue in the meantime, but god Adrenaline is awful. I kept it around to make driver updates easier but it fails at doing just that.
@Ocwhkn, I went the same route, but oddly enough, my 7900XT driver is older than my TM Graphics driver (see screenshots). What could be the issue behind that? I've looked for updates, but nothing comes up after propping the command.

I Am Having The Same Issues With The 7900xtx, it does seem to be a problem with the windows update version of the driver but even after reverting to adrenalin 24.12.1 (worked fine with this version) it still didn't work.
I've just installed latest amd adrenalin driver 25.3.1 and it's finally works fine with Fan Control
Indeed, new Adrenalin driver works!
Is there any workaround for this? I'm using a 6900xt. After I updated to 25.3.1, I encountered freesync problems, which caused flickering on the screen, so I had to roll back to 24.12.1. But fancontrol could not detect the gpu using 24.12.1.
I had the same issue with my 9070 XT. No sensors or fans detected on the GPU. I flashed my motherboard bios for reasons unrelated to Fan Control and suddenly I had both GPU and hotspot temperatures as well as fan speed and control. No idea why the motherboard bios would affect which sensors can be seen on the GPU, but apparently it had an effect.
+1 here, yesterday I upgraded my 7900XT drivers in Adrenalin software to 25.5.1 and now Fan Control cannot read the GPU sensors
Same here but nVidia RTX 2070, 576.88
