Updater sometimes fails because FanControl hasn't closed completely yet

Open mminnick opened this issue 11 months ago • 2 comments

When trying to run the updater from the main UI prompt, the DLLs sometimes do not have time to close properly before the updater attempts to update FanControl. This results in the rather obvious error of "Process cannot access the file because it being used by another process" when the Updater tries to overwrite the DLLs. This occurs semi-frequently. Sometimes trying again works, sometimes it takes several tries. The only workaround I've found is to run Updater.exe after closing FanControl manually.

Suggestion: Add a short delay (5s?) when updating from the UI prompt to allow the application to close completely before attempting to update the files.

used to ALWAYS happen for me, on Autofac.dll... but very occasionally it will work as intended... in the previous to this update it worked, this one I'm going to have to do manually, I tried the auto feature 3 times but always Autofac.dll

not sure if the latest version of ADLX has fixed it, but the last update (to 188) worked normally for me! yay
