v174 can't detect fan speeds but works fine when i use old config file.

Updated by installing v174 from GitHub. The first run went through the fan detection process and couldn't detect the speed of my system or CPU fans. However, when I replaced the config file with the one I had backed up from the previous version everything is working fine.

Hi there,

my updated and after that, because of the problems mentiond here, newly installed FanControl does only recognize now 16 of the previous 41 existent sensors. I had to reinstal it and find a way of importing my previous config File. I didn't find a way to get them detected trying several ways and many CPU and Case fans of my previous configuration are no longer visible. Looks like the author mangled with the sensor detection too... I checked some of the rpm/speed sensors, which worked as expected before and now show only "0" and they are displaying now a value of "0". But the count of sensors seem to have decreased greatly from 41 to 16. Unfortunately the author of the software does not comment on the visible problems many seem to have. I removed my FanControl software for now from my system...

@Khanivore did you install in a new location? The config files needs to be in the "Configuration" folder of your local FanControl installation for it to see your configs.

Nope same location as before. It's all working fine after I copied the old config file in to place. What I'm saying is that I did a fresh install and during the first run the software could not detect/control my fans an more. I had to copy the old config file over to make things work. If I didn't have that file, if I was actually a new user, I would not have been able to use fan control.

That's odd. Sensor detection has no link with the config file, except that the config file can enable/disable some sources, so with your fresh install you probably forgot to "check" the checkboxes for some sensors you were using?

That's my best guess....
