[ChC][v21b] Inventory Simulator needs to only work for "item-centric" features
I tested a bunch of items on their compatibility with the Inventory simulator, here is the result:
Botania Black Hole Talisman - works Manufactory Halo - does not work botania tools (repair) - works (with mana source in inventory) (greater) band of mana / mana tablet - does not work as mana source stone of temperance - does not work rod of the depths (cobblestone provision for rod of the shifting crust) - does not work eye of the flügel (flügel tiara improvement) - does not work
Thaumcraft wand focus - does not work (can't be put on wand) sanity checker - does not work
Thaumic Tinkering Bottomless pouch - does not work (wand foci can't be put on wand)
Chromaticraft aura pouch - works (haven't tested individual pendants)
Aura cascade portable black hole - works ring of the shattered stone - works
Blood magic sigil of the fast miner - works sigil of haste - works sigil of magnetism - works sigil of the phantom bridge - works
Automagy hungry hand mirror - does not work
Thaumic Exploration talisman of nourishment - works
Witchery protection poppets - doesn't work (tested with earth protection poppet) parasytic louse - does not work
Vanilla arrows (ammo for bow) - does not work
Range: As far as I could tell, no restriction on range as long as the player is in the same dimension as the simulator. I haven't tested this for other items, but the aura pouch at least does not work cross-dimensionally, even if the inventory simulator is chunk-loaded.
The description is not overly clear what the inventory simulator is meant for, from testing I assume as extended aura pouch and for repairing void metal tools, or what other uses does it have that you had in mind? Any general guideline as to what kind of items will work and which one won't?
I had TiC moss in mind when creating it. How would things that are player-bound even work to begin with?
It has no relationship to the Aura Pouch or its functionality - it is for "ticking" items as if they were in an inventory; it has no interaction with "player has item in inventory" or similar.
Is the simulator simulating a specific players inventory? Because otherwise it is extremely lucky that some of these items do work.
The one who placed it, yes, but not fully.
I have to confess this isn't really a bug report, I just wanted to share what I found. :-P
I do not even know what half of those items do.
Closing as I don't think this is a feature request, bug report, or anything else that has a good reason to stay open.
I am keeping this open because it is a limitation, but the things said above still apply.
