Trackpad Buttons Not Working

I have a laptop with a SynapticsSMBUS trackpad. Earlier on Mojave (14.6) I used to use AppleSmartTouchPad. It worked well except for the multi-touch gestures. I tried installing VoodooPS2Controller. Everything works fine- the pointer as well as all of the multi-touch gestures except for the trackpad buttons. What might be the reason causing this issue?

EDIT: I have already patched the battery..
