Desktop Client Update Issues

I am not able to update my desktop client to the most recent release (v0.10.21). Whenever the update pop-up appears in the client, I click on download, I get the message that the files are downloading and extracting, and then it completely freezes and stops responding. I have tried uninstalling, redownloading and reinstalling the client, but that resulted in the same issue.
