Caret Disappears After Dropping Attachments into Message

Open beebmaster opened this issue 3 years ago • 3 comments

Following a recent update to Thunderbird (91.3.2 (64-bit)) the way attachments are dropped into the composition window has changed. Instead of a new panel opening to right of the message fields showing the attachments, these are now shown at the bottom of the window above the status bar.

This seems to affect the text cursor/caret which either becomes fixed in the last position, or disappears completely. Mouse and cursor keys can still be used to move around the composition window, but it is much more difficult to compose or edit messages as the current text position is no longer known.

Probably not something I can fix with my Add-on :(

If I disable Smart Templates, it doesn't happen, but if it can't be fixed, it can't be fixed.

I've added More Layouts add-on, and although the method of adding attachments isn't much different, it does seem to have solved the problem. After the attachments are added to the message, I can still click with the mouse in the composition pane to visibly move the text cursor.

Update...until I add a second set of attachments, then the text cursor disappears as before!
