Error While Building

Open apvivek opened this issue 9 years ago • 2 comments

Hi, I'm getting the following error while trying to build winconn. I'm new to Ubuntu MATE and it would be great if you could guide me.

dpkg-checkbuilddeps: error: Unmet build dependencies: build-essential:native debhelper (>= 8) python-distutils-extra (>= 2.10) dpkg-buildpackage: warning: build dependencies/conflicts unsatisfied; aborting

What is the version of Ubuntu MATE? Do you have the dependencies mentioned, eg. sudo apt-get install debhelper python-distutils-extra

a couple additional comments, in case it helps someone, fwiw:

dpkg-buildpackage alone fails with:

signfile winconn_0.2.14-1.dsc gpg: starting migration from earlier GnuPG versions gpg: porting secret keys from '/home/alleycat/.gnupg/secring.gpg' to gpg-agent gpg: migration succeeded gpg: skipped "Alex Stanev [email protected]": No secret key gpg: dpkg-sign.xde4BlMd/winconn_0.2.14-1.dsc: clearsign failed: No secret key

dpkg-buildpackage: error: failed to sign .dsc and .changes file

one can build an unsigned deb file for personal use with (this worked on ubu 16.04):

dpkg-buildpackage -uc -us

or, if one is going to distribute, one should make a changelog entry and sign it - reasonable instructions for the unfamiliar like myself can be found here:
