Shieldbugs cannot properly pathfind through the gray-and-yellow stairs model

The 3 shieldbugs at the first half of Tilarus' Road to Dawn are often ran past, as there's these exact stairs right past their rooms.
Once a marine is past the stairs, shieldbugs refuse to chase this marine, unless the player goes out of his way to minimize distance and lure a shield up here step-by-step, proving this isn't a "too fat to fit" issue.
One of recent maps - Survival Infestation, an entry for the Space Station mapping competition - is noticeably affected too: the central base only has 4 entrances and they're all this exact stairs model, so the shieldbugs at waves 6 and 10 afk at far forest spawnpoints if team camps inside the base.
