Comments on RMG GUI and installation

RMG Manual: -lines go out of margins in pdf -installation instructions not clear for each installer

Condition.txt file:

  • not clear what can be clearly omitted (i.e. InChIGeneration is omitted in minimal example condition.txt, but manual says to set to off or on.)
  • arbitrary END tags. Mentioned for some items in the manual but not others.

GUI:

  • closes itself after a simulation. might be better to keep open? maybe show window that can pull results files off of like Final_Model.txt, plots, etcs
  • for Run button, state phrase "Run condition.txt" might make it more clear?
  • Add link to online RMG manual from Help button.
  • Would be nice to have default options for libraries so you don't need to type them in, such as select buttons already set to default libraries, and additional selection box for selecting your own library

I've addressed the issues relating to the second point (Condition.txt file) here: https://github.com/GreenGroup/RMG-Java/commit/83fce17d21963f37c2cd9dd9b477ec4c309e11be

Addressed some of the issues relating to the third point (GUI) here: https://github.com/GreenGroup/RMG-Java/commit/75220867ea7060a1fcd4cdb551c32904b7ab410b

and here: https://github.com/GreenGroup/RMG-Java/commit/9d08f51127ca0c27a685fad272494c691d6b84a6

Connie: What do you mean by the fourth point in this section ("... have default options for libraries ..."). If the Database field is set properly (which the GUI does automatically), pushing the "Select" button directs the user to the correct directory (i.e. if they are about to enter a Reaction Library, the pop-up window goes to $RMG/databases/RMG_database/kinetics_libraries).

The first point in this section is something to consider for the future (version 3.4 or later): Are you envisioning something like the CHEMKIN plotting, exporting, etc. Post-Processor GUI?
