bug(Prime video - Skip ads): Video ads are briefly shown before they are skipped

Open baronluigi opened this issue 6 months ago • 9 comments

Bug description

I realized that the ads actually appear (they appear marked in the time bar) and then dissappear as soon as they are displayed. I mean, the ads interrupt the video. However, this makes the video we are playing to move forward several seconds more, when resuming.

This used to happen in ublock origin as well, but the last version seems to have fixed this problem.

Can it be added to revanced too? Thanks.

The ad blocking patch does not appear as compatible in all the tryouts I made with versions newer than the suggested one

In case is my message does not make it clear, what I also meant to say is that ads are triggered and displayed ( for a second at least)

It is weird. Now the ads don´t appear anymore. Not even marked in the time bar. I just tested some videos where I firstly found them and they appear nomore.

Maybe a short term fluke ("it fixed itself").

If it reappears will reopen this issue.

Yep. Now it is worse. Ads appear and the video screen is totally black.

PD: This used to happen in firefox as well, while using tha addon VIDEO SPEED CONTROLLER.

I rebooted the phone and now it works fine again. It is something weird. Before reboot I unistalled and repatched the same version again and not to avail. Rebooting may have fixed the issue?

Other issue I noticed are some weird black horizontal lines randomly appearing, at the right side of the screen. And artifacts in the audio.

The random horizontal black lines issue does not look like a partch issue after all. It also happens with unpatched apps like Netflix and Hbomax.

If anyone else can reproduce this, I'll take a look since I wrote the original patch.

I did not renewed my premium account yet. If I do that,.I will try it again and I will report it here.

I'm not sure whether I should open a new bug report:

Ads are played, but there is no timer showing how long the ad will continue to run. The ads are also visible in the timeline, but they are no longer yellow, but very gray. I don't know if this is due to the older app version or the patch. I had a current version installed before, it's different there. When the ads are playing, I can easily skip them by fast-forwarding 10 seconds, then I always rewind 10 seconds so I don't miss anything (not sure if that's even necessary) and no new ad comes up. I also have the feeling that not every video has ads anymore.

I used app version 3.0.412.2947 only with the Skip Ads patch. I uninstalled the normal Prime Video app beforehand. I use a Huawei tablet without Google. My Prime account is a discounted standard account without premium, no new account.
