Are you sure they appear on an unpatched version of Youtube Music? Are you using MicroGMS or root?

ponces avatar Feb 21 '25 09:02 ponces

Yes they appear on the official version. I use MicroGMS

I can confirm the same experience. Also using MicroGMS. I'm not sure if it helps, but the only content that shows on the home screen in YTMusic on Android Auto is podcasts.

Glad this isn't just me, I've only just got yt music after the whole Spotify thing. I use my android auto everyday day and been having issues with playlist as well. I do have 2 playlists showing from years ago when I first tryed yt music and can play them. Can add songs to them 2 playlists but any new ones I create aren't showing. I installed the original yt music off the play store and it's doing the same. So likely a bug with yt music itself.

Having the same thing, super annoying

Yep same here, using a patched YT music

// I tested YT music from store play and... upon launching android auto it first showed up "Get premium to use these features" and I could not see playlists - maybe that's why? Can someone with a premium account test it out?

I tested the official app and it worked fine

Youtube music rvx won't work fully on android auto only playlists with local files does. You'll need the official app for full functionality rvx wasn't designed to run in Android Auto.

The same issue here! I am using latest gms core too. So I think its patch related

Is it possible to get logs from android auto to confirm it?

probably in Android Auto developer mode on the app in the phone. Yt music wasn't really designed to fully work in Android Auto. I think you can find it on the Android Auto app you can't launch it as is you need to open it via the phone settings. https://9to5google.com/2023/01/25/how-to-enable-developer-mode-in-android-auto-and-why-you-might-want-to/ here is a guide to get the logs.

Unfortunately I do not have Android Auto, but Android Automotive (AAOS - hope Polestar soon provides AA to PS4).

But from what I remember from my previous car, Revanced YT music looks exactly like the normal YT music in AAOS when you do not have a premium account. I signed up for a 1 month test subscription of YT music and now YT music is great useable.

So I think there will be another patch required for Revanced YT music to show everything like it does with a premium account.

Same issue here, playlists have been showing "No items" for a long time now.

Could be a stock YT Music problem as said here, here and here. (Can probably find more, if you dig around).

In the past stock YT music did not show a thing in library without Premium. Now they give you a Info message stating you need Premium to have library access.

So, this is not a stock YT music problem.

I guess no patch addresses AA until now for YT music. Or at least not the library part.

I can attest to this. Without premium, YouTube music only shows podcasts and podcast playlists on android auto. If you want music and music playlists you need premium. Right now a patched YT Music does not offer this.

Same issue here. Did anyone find a solution?

Dosclic98 avatar Jul 22 '25 08:07 Dosclic98

This issue is still open so there is no solution.

I made a new bug report about this 8 months later. I was told it's a server issue and a duplicate. Anyway, I changed a single byte on my local copy, updated the signature, and now it works great. I guess the moderators here don't really know how computers work so just say everything is impossible because reverse engineering is magic.

jimmyowebb avatar Nov 01 '25 03:11 jimmyowebb

@jimmyowebb if you want to contribute then pull requests are welcome.

YouTube Music doesn't get much love and has almost zero time spent on reverse engineering.

LisoUseInAIKyrios avatar Nov 01 '25 05:11 LisoUseInAIKyrios

Awesome. Then when people offer info, don't mark it as a duplicate and a server side problem. Mark it as "sorry, it's easy to lie". I literally told you the op code to change and no one is going to do anything about it, on this bug log from February. At this point just deprecate Music and stop pretending anyone is trying.

I absolutely would have done a pull request and added the fix, but you told me it was a server problem. So I took it upon myself to fix it, saw that you have no idea what you're doing, and now I'm inclined to just do this by myself for awhile.

jimmyowebb avatar Nov 02 '25 03:11 jimmyowebb

Nobody ever said "it's 100% a server side issue, I checked and it's impossible".

You can contribute if you want, but your rotten attitude is not helpful.

Until people that are passionate about reverse engineering and really like YT Music come forward, then YT Music will continue to get little love. Some developers here have spent over 10x more time working on patches and code for YT Music than they have spent using the app in total.

The PR is still not created. I don't believe in you. I don't think that you have the right solution. In this case You don't deserve a developer hat. At most, you deserve a muzzle.... Prove it!
