feat(YouTube): Play Shorts with the regular video player

YouTube shorts

Issue

The shorts history got completely removed from YouTube history. But when the short video links are replaced by regular youtu.be/watch links it gets added into the history

Patch

An toggleable option within revanced settings called covert shorts To be able to convert the short links youtube.com/shorts/ to youtube.com/watch?v= or youtu.be/ and play them so that they may be available in the regular youtube history.

Additional Option to Add a button below the short videos to be able to view the regular

The shorts history in a row at top was quite decent. Any patch yet?

not as far as I've seen. But even that shorts history was limited to only a couple of entries. You couldn't expand them.

If you spoof to 16.01.35, then shorts appear as regular videos if opened from the watch history and a few other locations (not that useful).

Edit2: 16.x spoof targets no longer work and were removed.

When you open a short from web browser into app, it automatically plays in regular player. May be that can be hooked somehow.

When you open a short with link youtube.com/watch?v=... instead youtube.com/shorts?v=... it plays in regular player. I don't know however how the links to videos/shorts are handled underneath.

This patch is necessary because Google made it impossible to spoof app version to 16.××.××, which would solve this problem. Are there any plans to implement it?

Shorts seekbar would be a great feature to have!

Totally agree, would be nice to have a solution for youtube's A/B testing, giving only select people have an interactive seekbar.
