feat: add FAQ in manager, and "More info" in warnings
Type
Functionality
Issue
People don't know what to do in case they encountered a warning (like the armv7 one in #458). So they still go to ask for tech support, wasting time and effort of all of us. The whole point of the warnings is to allow the users to help themselves, but we dont have any links to troubleshooting guide anywhere in manager yet.
Feature
Add a FAQ section to the FAQ in manager > setings. It should be clearly visible, for example, above the Advanced section.
Multiple resources (official and community) could be listed there, such as
- the start guide by hokora
- this first-start guide by myself
- this noobs guide on reddit
- troubleshooting guide by myself
- the discord bot suggestion
When a warning is issued, there should be an "More info" link to guides that can solve the issue.
For example, in the ARMv7 warning, a "more info" link could direct users to the FAQ section of ARMv7 devices, state possible solutions or workarounds.
When the "non-root install is not possible" warning is issued, the "more info" link could direct them to the FAQ section and instruct them to add microG patch.
Motivation
- reduce time to make tech support
- be more noobs-friendly

- [X] I have searched the existing issues and this is a new and no duplicate or related to another open issue.
- [X] I have written a short but informative title.
- [X] I filled out all of the requested information in this issue properly.
- [X] The issue is related solely to the ReVanced Manager
As a note, any link ReVanced Manager points to has to be officially hosted by ReVanced or the API which ReVanced Manager uses.
Understandable. But not even marking them as unofficial? So we'll have 0 community resources then?
I came here to post the same feature request. This is something that is desperately needed by users. The majority of users simply can't follow the existing documentation. The resources linked by @SodaWithoutSparkles would be extremely useful. I like the idea of marking them as unofficial. There is absolutely a need for this.
Hi, If approved, I would like to work on this. Thank you!
A FAQ section in ReVanced Manager may be the wrong place. Considering it is meant to be patch agnostic, almost all the FAQs will not apply when changing sources.
Yes that is also right. Could we add these somewhere else?
It is hard to say where. The initial idea was to have the docs repo rendered on the website, but the same problem would appear. I think patch-related FAQs have to be shipped with the patches themselves; general FAQs, on the other hand, can be on the website or ReVanced Manager.
That would work I think !!!
In this case a detailed specification on how this should be approached is necessary.
