FR: New definitions for streaks
Hi, I think streaks based on days kill motivation. It is very easy to break the streak and lose motivation. Instead I suggest:
- streaks based on weeks,
I recently figured out that the kindle app calculates 2 streaks for reading, one for days and the other for weeks. It was super motivating to know how many weeks I have been reading. That made me feel that I am a reader even if I missed a day or two. Unfortunately, setting a weekly goal doesn't provide the same insights.
- streaks that breaks if I missed the activity for two consecutive days. Let me quote this paragraph from James Clear's Atomic Habits:
"Missing once is an accident. Missing twice is the start of a new habit. This is a distinguishing feature between winners and losers. Anyone can have a bad performance, a bad workout, or a bad day at work. But when successful people fail, they rebound quickly. The breaking of a habit doesn’t matter if the reclaiming of it is fast."
Hope this makes sense. Thanks a lot.
