When I ran the script I told it to make a back-up of my system. After it ran my Desktop was wiped; none of my files or shortcuts were there. I attempted to restore from the back-up, but it made no difference.

Steps to reproduce

I don't even know how to replicate this as I'm assuming it's not even supposed to happen; I followed all instructions and prompts as given

Heya @ActuallyMin ,

Did you opt to remove OneDrive? OneDrive changes the location of the Desktop, Documents and Photos. When you remove OneDrive it sometimes changes it back to the original location, making it appear like the files are gone.

You should be able to find them in the OneDrive folder in your userprofile. You can quickly go there by copying this path into File Explorer: %userprofile%/OneDrive

I did; everything appears to be irretrievable as I didn't really use OneDrive and saved everything to my laptop instead. Can replace the majority of stuff; I just wanted to bring awareness to the 'back-up and run' process being reversed

@ActuallyMin Did you check the location i mentioned? (%userprofile%/OneDrive)

I believe Microsoft enables syncing to OneDrive automatically, so even if you did not manually enable syncing it's possible it was enabled. It's the only way I can explain why files may be missing.

I did and it led to an empty desktop folder and an empty documents folder =( Nothing that can't be replaced though which is what I've done

Thanks for the reply. I'm glad you didn't lose anything important. I haven't been able to reproduce this myself yet, I'll keep trying once I have some more time.

@ActuallyMin One more thing I'd like to ask: Have you checked OneDrive online to see if the files were synced there?

You can login here: https://onedrive.live.com/

OneDrive has this files on-demand feature that deletes the files locally, which may be what happened in your case.
