Need help to redo changes done by the tool

Open BLANK0104 opened this issue 9 months ago • 12 comments

I used win11 debloat tool without much info and now i need help to turn thing back to normal, because for me, the microsoft store is not working, meaning that i can search up apps there but no apps are being installed with an error. I am facing many issues like snipping tool not working and others.

and as for the microsoft store one, i did read this https://github.com/Raphire/Win11Debloat/discussions/114 and did a bunch of research on how i could revert the changes but couldn't find anything, i even used the help of chatgpt but it was also of no use as in the end, it just straight up told mme to reinstall windows, so my only option si to ask for help here....

so if you have some time, can you guide me step by step on how to revert the changes? right now my top priority is to get microsoft store working correctly, so if you can help me with that then i would really appreciate it..

thank you

Heya,

The script shouldn't affect the ability to install apps through the MS store or prevent apps like snipping tool from working. I do install apps through the MS store many times on my systems, and am an avid user of the snipping tool.

Do you have more details on the error you get when attempting to install an app through the MS store?

Additionally it would be helpful to know what changes you applied using the script. Did you use the default mode of the script?

yeah i can share some things:

  1. microsoft store just says something happened on our end while installing any app

Image

  1. I did use the default mode but made a few changes in the app list, i have also attached it as well if it helps

Appslist.txt

if anymore info is needed from my side, then please do let me know...

thank you

Thanks for the detailed response.

It seems from your appslist you opted to uninstall screensketch by editing line 106. Screensketch is actually the appname for the snipping tool. So that explains why the snippingtool stopped working.

That still leaves the update error from MS store though. I have noticed that removing the Microsoft.Xbox.TCUI (line 114) does have some unintended consequences, as some apps require it. Even some non-Xbox apps.

After testing however, it seems that updating/downloading via MS Store still works for me after removing the Microsoft.Xbox.TCUI app. So it's probably not that.

I'm unsure what else could've caused this issue. It seems a lot of people have run into it over the years, however. I have found a few troubleshooting steps online, that may be worth a shot.

Option 1: Disable any VPN, custom DNS or proxy setup

If you don't know what these are, you can probably skip this option.

Otherwise. Try disabling any VPN or proxy you may have setup. And reset any changes you may have made to your DNS settings.

Option 2: Reset the MS Store app

  1. Open Settings
  2. Go to Apps, followed by installed apps.
  3. Scroll down till you can locate Microsoft Store. It may be under System components.
  4. Click on Advanced Options.
  5. Scroll down and click the Reset option.

Option 3: Clear MS Store cache

In windows search, search for wsreset. This should return one Run Command item, run that.

Alternatively:

  1. Hit Windows +R, type CMD, and provide administrator privileges.
  2. Type in “Wsreset.exe”.
  3. Click Enter.

Option 4: Check for corrupt system files.

This option is basically given as the default for any weird Windows issue. It may help here.

  1. Head to the Start bar and type CMD.
  2. Run Command Prompt as administrator. (Important)
  3. Type in “sfc /scannow”, and hit Enter.

Option 5: Clear LocalCache folders

  1. Open Windows Explorer, and go copy %localappdata% in the addressbar.
  2. Go into the Packages folder, then Microsoft.WindowsStore_8wekyb3d8bbwe and lastly the LocalCache folder.
  3. Select and delete all the contents of the LocalCache folder.

Or copy the direct link below into the Windows Explorer addressbar:

%localappdata%/Packages/Microsoft.WindowsStore_8wekyb3d8bbwe/LocalCache

I have also found this threadon reddit with some additional troubleshooting info: https://www.reddit.com/r/WindowsHelp/comments/1gvdbj6/comment/ly3b36d/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Please let me know if any of these options help

@Raphire Thank you so much for the detailed guide but none of them worked for me

1)Disable any VPN, custom DNS or proxy setup: i never had anyy vpn or proxy set up

2)Reset the MS Store app: i tried both repair and reset and they were done successfully, but it didnt solve the problem

3)Clear MS Store cache: it did reset but that didnt work as well

4)Check for corrupt system files.: Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

5)Clear LocalCache folders: the said directory was already empty.

and the reddit one didnt work as well...

And i came to know that now, i cant update my pc as well, it gives me this error

Image

And i cant open the pages of any app on MS store as well

and how can i restore the cahnges done by the tool? like you said that i was the one who uninstalled snipping tools, so how can i revert this?

and thank you for everything, even if the problem is not being solved, i am glad the someone is trying to help me...thanks a lot

@BLANK0104 Thanks for trying all the steps. It's a shame they didn't help.

Normally I would suggest simply reinstalling the snipping tool from the ms store. But that's not going to work until we fix the other issue.

It seems like something stopped or is interfering with the Windows services responsible for updates. See this reddit thread of someone with the same error code: https://www.reddit.com/r/WindowsHelp/s/zEIHhs1e19

Win11debloat doesn't disable/remove any of these services. Did you run any other tool recently that might have done this?

Raphire avatar Mar 18 '25 17:03 Raphire

@Raphire thank you for suggesting the reddit thread and it didnt work, i did try most of the methods listed there but they didnt work and as for using any tool, no i didnt...but when things were not working, which they still aren't, i did try using chatgpt to debug this and while using it, i blindly followed whatever it said. these are the links to the chat if you want to have a look at what i tried https://chatgpt.com/share/67dcfca8-e944-8013-a658-ba73d549b142 https://chatgpt.com/share/67dcfcfb-b87c-8013-99de-4ce67d67435f

@BLANK0104 Damn, ok. I'm not sure what else could help here.

The only thing I can think of is trying an in-place upgrade/repair, described here: https://www.elevenforum.com/t/repair-install-windows-11-with-an-in-place-upgrade.418

It shouldn't touch any apps/files, but I would suggest you backup everything you don't want to lose anyway.

@Raphire thank you for your help this far. i really appreciate it and i will try the given method when my laptop is not in too much use..

@BLANK0104 Do you have any updates on this issue?

Raphire avatar May 23 '25 20:05 Raphire

hey @Raphire , sorry I couldn't reply sooner So yeah, I did not find a solution So, I reset my Entire PC and it worked. Besides this, I did try multiple things but none of them seemed to work because I think that the damage done was too great to be reversed.
