Problem Description

Hi, VidCoder takes over 30 seconds to start on my Windows 11 computer with Core i7-13700k processor and NVMe hard disks. Is there any way I can find out what could be causing this? VidCoder starts much faster in the earlier versions. I am using beta 12.2

WBR, deltapapa

What version of VidCoder are you running?

12.2 Beta

On what version did it become slow? Is the latest v11 stable also slow?

Hello, unfortunately I can no longer say exactly. I have now tried all versions as portable, 10.x, 11.x and 12.x, and they all start so slowly. I would have thought that I might be able to read some logs to see what is taking so long to load. I guess if I'm the only one with the problem, I'll just have to live with it. Many thanks, deltapapa

Other install modes may start up more quickly. With the portable installer it has to unzip all the program files to a temporary directory before it runs. There's no way for me to know exactly why it's slow without running a profiler, which may be a bit involved for you.

Same. On my Windows 11 24H2 laptop with an 8th-gen i7 & NVME drive, VidCoder 11.11 (installed) takes about 30 seconds to a minute to load, displaying the loading screen. However, if I close and reopen it within a few minutes, it loads instantly. Otherwise, the startup becomes slow again. I even excluded VidCoder from Windows Defender, but that didn't help.

I definitely remember this is not being an issue on v9 and v10.

If a recent version became slow, figuring out what version it regressed on would be helpful.

Surprisingly, since the last update, the slowness has gone. It hasn't occurred once, even though it had been happening for months, consistently.
