I found a solution. I just output as PNG. Then i open the picture in gimp and click save as DDS and everything works the way i hoped

cupscale causes GPU to work pretty heavily, im going to guess your pc is shutting off from overheating

the batch of files you were working on were set to read only

No TEW1 uses directX which is unusual for an idtech game
