Refresh should also hide the read feed

After reading feeds, they remain in ‘All Unread’ for as long as you stay there. The only option is to leave the section and go back in again. Suggestion to update ‘All Unread’ when the feeds are refreshed or to create a separate shortcut for easier operation

On iOS there’s a setting for this. On Mac there isn’t, but you can use View > Clean Up Articles for this.

Thanks for the tip - I find the shortcut a bit cumbersome, but maybe that's just my opinion. However, the last read entry is always retained

It doesn’t remove the currently-selected article on the grounds that you may still be reading it.

On iOS I saw “Refresh to Clear Read Articles,” and this needed manually refresh to clear read articles.
