I think some features that Brent Simmons doesn't want to add due to their complexity like nested folders (#503) or custom refresh times for every single feed may be opt-in and could be turned on in "Advanced" tab in app settings. This way, one can make NetNewsWire both simple to use (for common users) and powerful (for e.g. tech geeks).
