Feature request: add option to hide unread labels
Feature request: add option to hide unread labels This would help with people with OCD as seeing an unread label triggers compulsion to read in order to clear the labels. It can get very annoying when opening the app and seeing all this unread labels in Folders, feeds, today section etc. I think it should be easy to implement
I can see how this would help people. The downside is that the user would have to click through all their folders to know if there are any unread items in them.
Maybe it would be useful to have some kind of indicator to show that there are unread items in a folder just so that users who need this feature don't have to do a bunch of hunting to find their unread articles. Then they could see the total of unread in that folder as displayed at the top of the Timeline.
Maybe all 3 options could be made available? I'm just dubious that completely removing the ability to know if there are unread articles in a folder is a good idea.
You can always go to the unread section and there you find them. No need to search through folders
Then you lose all the utility of organizing your feeds into folders. I personally never use the All Unread Smart Feed and I'm sure others do the same.
I can tell you that having unread indicators even without numbers it would drive me crazy 🤣 . But that is my own problem. But different options would be good, like nothing, indicators only and unread numbers
I came here to second this. For a few years I’ve used sfeed, which just generates a static HTML page, no unread count. Trust me, removing any sense of read/unread is an infinitely better experience. No indicators, no secret read flag for smart folders or whatever. Just off. NNW would benefit greatly from this feature!
I would love this feature also, especially if we could enable/disable it on a feed level.
Some feeds I feel are important enough (to me) to see the unread count, others are occasional skim through the list to see if something catches my attention.
