Suggestion: submit to GNOME Incubator to become core app
With Totem becoming unmaintained recently, this app being very high quality, and the precedent already set for GNOME introducing new core apps, I believe you should submit this app to GNOME Incubator so it can become a core app.
Is this FR any different from #174? Either way, until some UI changes (coming soon™) are done to be more in line with HIG, neither will progress. So... stay tuned, I guess.
Hi! Any news on this? The UI changes seem to be here already.

There are no news and probably there won't be unfortunately. From what I understand, Clapper as an app already has too many functions to be core. Even more then that, as it comes with written by myself libraries, shared GTK widget functionality, etc. that probably nobody (except me of course ) would like to maintain.
From what I know GNOME undergoes its own initiative to write a much simpler/minimalist video player (as they see fit) which can just play a local video. Apparently using Python.
I was wondering which Python app was being referred to here; if anyone else is similarly curious, apparently it's https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/Incubator/Submission/-/issues/12

And if anyone is curious what that means for Clapper, the answer is: Nothing.
Rest assured, Clapper will not go anywhere. Development will continue as it did all this time. Now that we finally have a much better rewritten code split into separate libraries and full control on what's going on thanks to them, we can finally focus on adding more new fancy/advanced features that users were requesting for a long time.
