Purpose of file extensions with semicolon (e.g. .webp;jpg)?

Thanks for creating the imagetools, they work great!

I was just wondering what's the deal with file extensions like .webp;jpg in [email protected];jpg in the generated assets in /dist/assets. I googled for quite a while but found literally nothing about it.
