Bridge request: Facebook events?

Open Aasemoon opened this issue 8 years ago • 5 comments

Hi there,

As you may have noticed, Facebook recently made the rather unwise decision to remove the feature that allowed users to subscribe specifically to events of pages [the "subscribe" button on the events tab of pages]. This was a very useful feature, as it organised the events that the user was interested in, neatly in a calendar, without having to sift through all the other posts of a page. Removal of this feature has made a lot of users unhappy but Facebook doesn't seem to intend to bring it back. [The reason offered was that some pages flooded the events feed by posting too many events. Which is balderdash because you could have just as well unsubscribed from the events of that specific page.]

So would it be possible for you to create a bridge that would specifically fetch the new items on the events tab of a page? This would be extremely helpful!

Cheers!

A lot of local businesses only promote events on their Facebook page. This is the most important reason why I cannot close my FB account for now.

But I wonder if an RSS bridge would be the best way to replace it. A webcal/ical subscription would work with existing calender apps.
